Overview:
The Kelvins are an original rock band from Hartford, Connecticut. We're a 4-piece band whose style has been described as '...at once difficult to describe and yet unmistakable.' [Christina Tormey, The Hartford Advocate]. Our sound is straight-ahead rock that nods to classic rock bands like Led Zeppelin and The Beatles as well as modern rock bands like Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Fuel, Foo Fighters and Nirvana. We are not: 'retro', glam, metal [nu or old], punk, ska, or rap-rock; nor are we aging, pot-bellied rockers trying to recapture glories past. We are a rock band whose songs focus on melody, power and infectious hooks.

Our live show:
The Kelvins show consists of up to 1 1/2 hours of all-original music. We play a tight, well rehearsed, high energy set that has been well received all over Connecticut as well as in Boston and New York City. As for our stage presence, we try to bring some of the old school rock swagger so rarely seen these days to our stage show. Gigging Highlights include a recent opening slots for Living Colour on their reunion tour's east coast-leg to packed and enthusiastic houses.

Highlights:
The Kelvins have accomplished a hell of a lot in 3 years. From our first live performance in May of 2000, we've gotten several favorable reviews, a feature article in local alternative paper 'The Hartford Advocate', and have been featured on both Ampcast.com and RadioBoston.com. Radio stations currently playing our songs include Radio 104 [WMRQ 104.1, Hartford, CT] and WWUH [University of Hartford]. Our work has garnered the interest of Living Colour/Mos Def bassist and recording artist Doug Wimbish, who introduced us to producer Fran Flannery [known for his engineering work with Aerosmith, Creed, Fuel, Living Colour and others] and mixing genius Andy Stackpole [10+ year veteran of mixing live sound for LC, Bad Brains and others]. Wimbish also introduced us to some larger audiences, as opening act on several shows of the Living Colour reunion tour. Currently, we're hard at work with Fran and Andy, recording our debut CD at the famous Long View Farm recording studio in Massachusetts. The full-length disc is scheduled for release in fall of 2003.

Press:
As mentioned above, The Kelvins have received a fair amount of press - all of it favorable. The Hartford Advocate's local music writer India Blue called us "a potential powerhouse band" - after our second gig. A year later, Blue said: "The band is all rock, all original and clear on who they are and where they are going musically." In all, we've been reviewed 4 times by The Advocate, with nothing but positive commentary [please see the press page for quotes]. The Kelvins took 2nd place in 3 categories of The Advocate's "Grand Band Slam" competition in: Best New Band, Best Original Rock and Best Drummer [2001]; Best Original Rock, Best Drummer and Best Bass Player [2002]. Always a bridesmaid, but we'll take it!

Management:
The Kelvins are, at present, self-managed. We'd like to think we've done a good job thus far, but admit that we need help to reach the next level. If you are in the management business [and in the Northeast region of the U.S.] and are interested in working with this hard-working band, please contact Greg Garcia at 860.525.1707.

Booking:
As with management, we Kelvins do our own booking. Likewise, if you are a booking agent looking for a hard-working, self-promoting band to work with. Please contact Greg Garcia at 860.525.1707. We are willing to do shows [showcases, openers, or full evenings] within roughly 200 miles of central Connecticut. However, if travel arrangements are provided, we can work anywhere around the globe.
